This procedure involves passing a small plastic tube through the nose to the duodenum and injecting barium and air to provide contrast. Endoscopy and Biopsy • Fiberoptic endoscopy is rarely possible unless it is done during surgery. • A small part of the terminal ileum can be seen during a colonoscopic evaluation. • Small bowel endoscopy is useful during surgery for additional evaluation.
